Description

Whether you garden for a living or it's a new hobby you're getting into, you're going to need this pH ORP Combo Meter & Temperature Gauge/Monitor from Hanna Instruments. If you aren't keeping your soil's pH balance or water's ORP in check, you could be depriving your crops of the proper nutrients they need to grow or swimming in a harmful environment. You can also use this reader for your other pH and ORP needs, which are more common than you might think. If you own a pool or spa, farm fish, manufacture food, work in the printing industry or in water treatment, you're going to need to understand the pH/ORP levels of your products. The included instructions should make it simple for you to properly test your subject, and the LCD display on the reader allows for easy identification of the pH, ORP, and temperature levels of your water, soil, food, and more. If you aren't already aware, ORP stands for Oxidation-Reduction Potential. In other words, this tool gauges the cleanliness of your water and its ability to break down contaminants. It's measured in millivolts (mV). For simplicity's sake, you should keep your pool or spa water between 650 and 750 mV. If the reading is outside of those bounds, add some chlorine to bring it up to that range: Or, if it's too high, leave the pool cover off for a few hours and let excess chlorine evaporate. This reader is also top-of-the-line in terms of providing a clear and cheap gauge of soil acidity and basicity, so it's great for farmers and gardeners. pH, otherwise known as per-hydrogen, is measured on a scale of 0-14 with 7 being considered neutral. The 2 extremes of the scale are pure acidic or pure basic. Anything below 7 is considered acidic, and everything above is considered basic. In other words, your plants won't be able to absorb nutrients properly if the pH is off-balance, as most plants thrive in a slightly acidic to a neutral environment (between 5.5 and 7.0). For example, if the soil is too acidic, your plants may develop an iron deficiency and display yellowing on the leaves between their veins. If the soil is too basic, your plants won't be able to properly absorb nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and nitrogen, which are all paramount to plant life. If you're working in agriculture, food, printing, or simply own a pool, you're going to make sure your product stays balanced. Quickly, easily, and economically, you can gauge pH, ORP, and temperature with this reader from Hanna Instruments.
